Initially, the board was constituted on 7th Nov 2011 but started functioning since 5th February 2002 with a view to promoting cultivation, conservation and marketing o medicinal plants in Arunachal Pradesh. The purpose of creating the board for the sector was aimed to provide more flexiblilty compared to the various department of the state. The board started functioning over the underall umbrealla of the health department

With the vision of conservation, management, value addition, etc., of "Illicium griffithii" commonly known as "lishi" awareness program was conducted with the villagers & students of Sera Village, Bomdila with the collaborative efforts like; Dr. Tenzing Dema, RO,Botany, SMPB Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Lanusunep, Dy. Director, & Mr. Jamini Mohan Gogoi, Technical Officer (Marketing), RCFC-NER, CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, Mr. Sangey, Mongyul Charitable Society Bomdila. Apart from these other resource persons like Ms Pema working in Japan in the field of livelihood training and Mr. Mark from Netherland, Owener of software company was also present to help the community by any possible means.
We understand the potential of this natural resource & can do lots of improvements to enhance the economic benifits.
